Pediatric Eye Care
Vision problems or difficulties affect about 15% of children. Early detection and appropriate treatment is important and vital.
Signs of Vision Problems in Children
Observe your child and see if any of the following applies. If the answer is yes to 3 or more of the questions below, your child might have learning related vision problem.
- Holds objects and reading material closer than normal?
- Avoids close work?
- Has difficulty getting or catching a ball, a toy, distinguishing right from left?
- Has headaches after reading?
- Get tired after reading?
- Has difficulty comprehending what they read?
- Omits or confuses small words when reading?
- Moves the head instead of the eye when reading?
- Turns or Tilts head to one side to use one eye only?
- Consistently performs below expected levels or potential in school?
- Has an eye that turn in or out?
- Has poor hand-eye coordination (this could also reflect a muscle problem)
- Has difficulty copying from the blackboard, textbook or notebook?
- Only one eye focus on the a subject?
- Tends to rub the eyes?
